EA has announced a new expansion pack for The Sims 3 on PC and Mac called Showtime.

Showtime is all about getting your Sim in the spotlight, making them a famous singer, acrobat, magician, or DJ and, like previous expansions for the series, will also bring a whole host of new traits, Lifetime Wishes, and a new area called Starlight Shores.

You will be able to build your own dream venue and then, using SimPort, host gigs or events by Sims from other people’s games, or send your sim off to do the same.

There’s a new achievement system, plus a whole load of new social additions like walls posts, news feeds, status updates, and various other Social Network style offerings.

According to the ESRB rating, the expansion contains “crude humor”, “Sexual Themes” and “violence”.

As of yet, there is no word on the release date.
