Today, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics teamed up with Eidos-Montréal to unveil a new full-length trailer for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the next installment in the critically-acclaimed Tomb Raider series. The trailer shows a dark future for Lara Croft as she faces the apocalypse. Shadow of the Tomb Raider will release in September and pre-orders are available now.
The trailer shows Lara Croft scaling cliffs and trudging through the jungle in an effort to save the world from the Mayan apocalypse. While no gameplay is shown, the trailer does set a much darker tone for Lara’s next adventure. Camilla Luddington will also be reprising her role as Lara Croft for a third time in this gritty new entry to the series.
“Shadow of the Tomb Raider will challenge Lara Croft in new and unexpected ways,” said David Anfossi, the Head of Studio at Eidos-Montréal. “Our team has created a diverse set of skills, combat techniques and equipment for players to master, and they’ll certainly need them if they hope to survive the deadly jungle environments and tombs.”
Shadow of the Tomb Raider’s extended trailer was revealed last night during a special event for Tomb Raider fans and influencers hosted by Square Enix. Today at 4:00 pm EST, there will be a special preview event at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. Panel attendees get to enjoy an extended gameplay demo for the game as well.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC on September 14, 2018. Pre-orders are available now for the Standard, Digital Deluxe, Croft, and Ultimate Editions. The Shadow of the Tomb Raider Season Pass features seven new adventures called Paths that each include their own story and missions, as well as exclusive weapons and customizations. More details are available on the official Tomb Raider website.
