The team over at Bluepoint is boasting that they’ve got some big plans for next-gen with their next remake being their “proudest achievement.” This studio has been responsible for some pretty stellar remakes in the past, including giving us the gorgeous Shadow of the Colossus remake in addition to the Nathan Drake Collection for the Uncharted franchise and the God of War collection. Now it looks like they’re touching another major franchise, and it could possibly be Legend of Dragoon.
Bluepoint president Marco Thrush recently sat down with SegmentNext to talk about what’s next for the company and their gaming vision. According to Thrush, “We [Bluepoint Games] originally remastered Shadow of the Colossus for the PS3 and then remade it for the PS4. It’s the only one we’ve touched twice and to date it is our greatest achievement, so it’s easy to say that is our personal favorite. However, there’s no question in our minds that our current project will become the achievement we’re most proud of.”
In terms of next-gen technology, he added “Fortunately the Bluepoint Engine and toolset has been in development for many years. We have significantly invested in ways that allow our process of remastering or remaking games to be powerful and efficient. It is flexible and able to take advantage of any hardware.”
For those that are unfamiliar with Bluepoijnt, they are the studio that gave us the beyond stunning Shadow of Colossus remake last year and now they are teasing even more projects in the works. Two new remakes have been confirmed to be in the works, though we don’t know what the heck they are yet. There have been a plethora of Dragoon remake rumors as well as Demon’s Souls, which seem to be the two biggest titles the community thinks they are up to.
That’s not to say that aren’t others, because Metal Gear Solid has been a top contender – especially with Konami’s interest in recapturing old magic and Hideo Kojima being in the media so much in recent months with his breakout title Death Stranding.
I just want Demon’s Souls. With everything and their mother being compared to Dark Souls, let’s take it back to the Demon’s. This game was hard, it was brutal, and it was everything that I could have ever wanted and definitely a game that should be enjoyed in this generation’s graphics. That being said, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at a Dragoon remake either.
