Sega Europe Adds Disclaimers To Aliens: Colonial Marines Trailers

by Prima Games Staff

Ever since its release back in February, Aliens: Colonial Marines has seen its fair share of criticisms, with most people calling out its sloppy visuals and its general unfinished state, complete with bugs (not aliens) and glitches.  And it looks like Sega Europe is finally admitting that, yes, it doesn’t quite live up to what its trailers presented.

The UK’s Advertising Standards Agency, notified through a Reddit post submitted by a user named subpardave, found that the complaint he had filed had some weight to it, and agreed to “informally uphold” the grievance, calling out Sega Europe on the video quality of the game.  The company has since responded by stating that, from hereon in, its trailers for Aliens will indicate the following: “The trailer footage shown uses the in-game engine, and represents a work in progress.”  (Even though the game is released and all.)

And it’s worth noting that the text isn’t in the trailer itself, but embedded in the YouTube notes for the trailers.  So don’t expect to see “official” text unless, of course, new trailers are released going forward.  And with DLC still being planned for it, don’t be surprised if you see it.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is available now for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
