Rumor: Is Halo 2 Anniversary Edition Being Produced Alongside Halo 4?
Oh, 343 Industries. Just when we think we have you all figured out, you pull the rug from under us!
While the team behind Halo 4 is working hard on prepping its Comic-Con panel for next week, which is expected to introduce new footage from Master Chief’s long-awaited return, rumor has it that the team is hard at work on producing a high-definition version of the classic Xbox shooter Halo 2, eight years after the original first came out.
The rumors page of the latest Official Xbox Magazine UK indicated the possible existence of the project, a follow-up to the 2011 release of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. “Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary,” claims the article.
The game is expected to feature a number of items like the first Anniversary had, including the option to switch between new and “classic” graphics, online play through Xbox Live, Achievements and a number of hidden goodies, including possible skulls.
343 had no comment at the time of report, so who knows, it might just be a rumor that’s bound to fizzle out. But then again, there’s no telling if the game could resurface in time for Halo 2’s tenth anniversary. You think…?
