Nintendo’s latest Direct special, which aired this morning, pulled a fast one on viewers for a moment with a trailer that revealed Kirby racing against Mario and his allies on Rainbow Road, at first hinting he would appear in the upcoming Mario Kart 8.
However, upon watching the trailer a little further, it revealed something a little different. Kirby came to a crashing halt after colliding with something, and Luma, the helpful little star from Super Mario Galaxy, went over to check on him.
From there, it was announced that the starry little guy, along with the intergalactic princess Rosalina, would be playable characters in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game for Wii U and 3DS. Players will be able to have the duo work together to fight enemies and unleash special powers.
Check out the trailer below!
Super Smash Bros. will release on both systems in mid-2014.
