Today, publisher 2K announced that WWE Superstar “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey would be headed to WWE 2K19 as a playable character. The publisher commemorated Rousey’s upcoming video game debut with a global campaign trailer for the announcement, which was shown during the latest Monday Night Raw broadcast.
The video echoed the words of the late “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, who verbally praised Rousey during her appearance on the Piper’s Pit podcast in 2015. Piper served as inspiration for Rousey’s signature ring outfit, which her character will wear in WWE 2K19 as well.
“As a WWE Superstar, having support from the Piper family means everything to me,” said Rousey. “It’s an honor to be part of WWE 2K19 and have my name mentioned alongside so many important Superstars in WWE history, including Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle, Ultimate Warrior, Sting and Goldberg.”
Rousey will be one of two bonus pre-order characters available for WWE 2K19, the other being the iconic WWE Champion, Rey Mysterio. Those who pre-order the game will be granted access to both playable characters at launch.
WWE 2K19 will be released worldwide on October 9, 2018. Early Access players will get to enjoy their time in the ring a few days early, beginning on October 5.
