Not only has Nintendo lost a great exclusive today…but now it has to wait even longer to arrive.
Ubisoft has announced today that Rayman Legends, its long-awaited side-scrolling adventure, will not make it to stores at the end of this month for Wii U as originally projected. It’s been delayed – again – to September.
But if that news didn’t jar you Wii U owners, this likely will. The game is no longer an exclusive to your platform. Ubisoft Montpelier, the development team behind the game, confirmed that it’s coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well, and will be releasing in September too. No word yet on how the team will incorporate the touch-screen features into the general controls, but chances are an entire game reconfiguration will be in order.
Following the un-exclusivity of Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge yesterday, Nintendo is starting to lose some grip in the third-party market. You have to wonder if March turns things around…or leaves some people doubting the company’s latest game machine. Only time will tell.
Look for a preview of the revamped Rayman Legends in the weeks ahead.
