UPDATE (5/15/18): Bethesda has also released the first official gameplay trailer for Rage 2. Check it out below!

Original Post: Bethesda’s announcement today puts sequel rumors to rest after some leaked details cropped up recently on Twitter. Rage 2 is the sequel to the gritty shooter made by id Software in 2011, who is teaming up with Sweden-based developer Avalanche Studios for the upcoming sequel. Avalanche is the team that brought us the 2015 open-world Mad Max game, which explains a lot of the style and imagery in the trailer.

Here is how Bethesda describes Rage 2 on its official website:

“Dive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. RAGE 2 brings together a true open world FPS experience where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything.”

The official game website also confirms that Rage 2 will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, no release date has been revealed just yet. There’s a good chance that we may hear more about Rage 2 during E3 2018, so be sure to check the E3 press conference schedule and stay tuned for updates.
