Excited Pokemon fans who tuned into the Pokemon Presents live presentation on August 8, 2023, were rewarded with a range of information that touched on the multiple mediums that Pokemon exists in. One of the many highlights, however, was Niantic sharing a teaser trailer that depicted Pokemon from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Paldea region in Pokemon GO. A clear indication that generation nine Pokemon will be making their debut in the imminent future.
Niantic Introduces Generation Nine Pokemon to Pokemon GO
The arrival of the starter Pokemon, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, from the Paldea region was teased through a new trailer. The trailer used shoes to depict the previous versions of the games. Starting with a pair of red and green Converse to a pair of black leather shoes with a scarlet and violet colored tag at the back. The camera then moves to the front door of the house, and you can see the outlines of the Paldea starters through a frosted glass window.
No other Pokemon from the region have been announced at the time of writing, but it is very likely that other Pokemon from the region will not be far behind. The Paldea starters will be debuting in Pokemon GO in September 2023, with an exact date yet to be announced.
Fans were quick to question why the Paldea starters seem to be releasing before the Galar starters, who are still yet to be introduced into the game. Niantic has often followed its own release order when it comes to adding Pokemon to Pokemon GO, with Pokemon such as Smeargle and Kecleon appearing much later than other Pokemon in their respective generations.
With Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly releasing this September, it will be interesting to see if Galar makes an appearance before then.
