Pokémon Go Lunar New Year Event Features Tauros, Shiny Red Gyrados, & More

It’s time to celebrate Lunar New Year with Pokemon Go! Starting next week, Tuesday, February 9 through February 14 you’ll be able to participate in the Lunar New Year Pokemon go Celebration.

Since it’s the year of the Ox, everyone’s favorite bull Pokemon Tauros will be heavily featured. 

Pokémon Go Lunar New Year Event Features Tauros, Shiny Red Gyrados, & More

The focus will also be on Pokemon with the color red. Especially the coveted chance to obtain a shiny Red Gyrados! That’s not all though, Gyrados will also be able to Mega Evolve for the first time ever in Pokemon Go. 

The following Pokémon will be appearing in raids.

  • Meditite, Carvanha, Duskull, Skorupi, and Darumaka will be appearing in one-star raids.
  • Miltank, Octillery, Blaziken, Camerupt, and Absol will be appearing in three-star raids.
  • Latios and Latias will be appearing in five-star raids from Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. local time.
  • Mega Pidgeot, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Ampharos will be appearing in Mega Raids from Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. local time. This will be Mega Gyarados’s debut in Pokémon GO!

Taurus will be featured in a limited-time research event. So get it while it’s hot! The trading range during this event will be 40km! During trades, players will have an increased chance of Pokemon becoming lucky.
