PlayStation Vita Getting PS Classics This Summer

Plus: PS3 support for PS2 titles

The PlayStation Vita will soon enable users to download PS Classics games in its upcoming 1.8 firmware update, while the PS3 will receive support for PS2 games.

PlayStation Vita firmware update 1.8 is coming sometime this summer, reports Andriasang . The last update to the PS Vita hardware brought the system up to 1.69 last month.

PS Classics has been available on the PlayStation 3 for a little while now, though only currently features games from the PS1.

Soon, gamers over in Japan will have access to games from the PS2’s catalogue. July 25th brings the following titles to Japanese PS3s:

  • Resident Evil Code: Veronica (Capcom): ¥1,200
  • Kessen (Tecmo Koei): ¥1,500
  • Shin Contra (aka “Contra: Shattered Soldier,” Konami): ¥1,200
  • Dragon Force (Sega): ¥800
  • Siren (Sony): ¥1,200

The archive will update once a month after the July 25th launch, future updates are said to include the following:

  • Dead or Alive 2 Hard Core (Tecmo Koei): ¥1,500
  • Castlevania (Konami): ¥1,200
  • Dynamite Dekka (aka Die-Hard Arcade, Sega): ¥800
  • Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box (Sega): ¥800
  • Dark Cloud (Sony): ¥1,200
