Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time Gets Early Release Overseas

PopCap Games’ long-awaited Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time doesn’t currently have a release date, but that isn’t stopping some people from enjoying the game early. The publisher has released the game on the Australia and New Zealand App Stores.

The company’s senior producer, Allen Murray, spoke with Polygon about the early release, stating it’s part of a testing phase to see how the game and its online servers hold up. “With Plants vs. Zombies 2, we’re taking advantage of a lot of newer technologies…if you’re connected to the Internet, you can save your progress and share accounts across multiple devices – and we need to make sure those systems, along with our ability to stream that content to players, works.”

PopCap says the game will debut worldwide later this summer.
