Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Delayed into May

The sequel to Obsidian’s hit RPG has been pushed back a month.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is shaping up to be an even bigger game than the original Pillars of Eternity. Backed entirely by its community, the game has been moving along at a steady pace, however, Obsidian wants to make sure that everything is set for the game’s full release and have decided to delay the game’s official release until May.

The game’s new release date is set to be Tuesday, May 8. The extended release time will give the developers more time to work on the game as a whole, squashing any bugs, as well as bringing in feedback that they have gotten throughout the various betas that they have had.

According to the press release, Obsidian state, “As you have probably guessed, Deadfire is a huge game — significantly larger than the original Pillars of Eternity. Obsidian has been working harder than Abydon himself to make every inch of it awesome, as well as incorporating all the great feedback we have been getting from everyone playing the Backer Beta.”

An additional month added to the hype train is definitely not a big deal, and it definitely means that players can expect to see a polished product when the game comes out in May. Releasing in May also gives those still in some kind of schooling a great chance to dive into the game when it first releases, as summer will be starting for many around that time.

We’ll be covering Deadfire quite a bit as we get closer to release, so make sure you check back later in May to see all the articles, guides, and information that you need to tackle the dangerous lands and even waters that you’ll journey across in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.
