Ubisoft have admitted there’s a problem with Splinter Cell: Conviction that causes freezes during gameplay but have since updated the game with a patch.

“The issue has been resolved, you should now be able to play without further problems,” a spokesperson stated speaking to Kotaku. “You can download the update now and be able to play the game without it freezing or needing to be unplugged from Xbox Live”.

Problems were reported by gamers in the US, who had problems on the second level amongst other areas. Ubi originally told gamers to clear the cache of their hard drives, before rebooting their 360s without being connected to Live, skin a black cat and hang it in the moonlight to make the game work. Such complicated procedure should hopefully now be unnecessary.

For those in the US, Splinter Cell: Conviction is out now on Xbox 360 and should come to Windows on April 27th, head over to the game’s hub for screenshots, videos and a handful of previews.
