It feels like every few months now we are talking about the next substantial update to No Man’s Sky. Just last February the team at Hello Games unveiled its big Sentinels update which allowed players to adventure with AI-controlled mechs. Now the team has announced the next major free update Outlaws which has a ton of new additions and changes.

No Man’s Sky Outlaws Update Brings Pirate Raiders & Cool Capes

This update introduces new Outlaw systems, the ability to recruit your own squadron, improved space combat, and a ton more.

The major new addition in this update is that some star systems are fallen under outlaw control, making them dangerous and filled with space pirates. You’ll be able to check out these new marketplaces filled with contraband and even go on special missions working for these new outlaws that have rolled into town.

Smuggling contraband across star systems will net you a huge profit if you don’t get pinched by the Sentinels along the way, adding a whole new layer to traveling across the stars. TO add to this new system you can now obtain high-capacity cargo inventory to allow for larger hauls across the galaxy.

It wouldn’t be an outlaw update if there wasn’t improved ship combat allowing for some dogfighting both in space and on planet surfaces. You can get into more conflicts around the universe and an improved combat system allows for an autopilot system to help ease the burden of combat. Auto-follow enables an automatic target locking system that tracks ships for you while allowing the player to adjust on the fly.

Outside of these changes, there are also new cloth physics for capes, and new narrative-driven Blight expedition, and a rebalancing of starship weapons.

Pirate Raiders can also attack buildings and settlements on planet surfaces so be ready for a fight at any given moment. For all of the patch notes check out the official website.
