Nixxess Software Joins PlayStation Studios As Latest Acquisition

If you’re thinking to yourself, “I’m unfamiliar with Nixxes Software” you’re not alone. Many folks quickly started looking into what this developer has worked on, and why PlayStation has acquired them seemingly out of the blue.

This is especially out of left field after the announcement of Housemarque joining PlayStation Studios earlier this week.

Nixxes has posted on its website a little more about the acquisitions citing:

“Sony Interactive Entertainment (“SIE”) announced today that SIE has completed the acquisition of Nixxes Software B.V. (“Nixxes”), an industry-leading Dutch studio with more than 20 years of experience in game development and optimization.

Based in Utrecht, Netherlands, effective immediately, Nixxes will join PlayStation Studios Technology, Creative & Services Group to provide high quality in-house technical and development capabilities for PlayStation Studios.”

Most of Nixxes portfolio is porting games like Marvel’s Avengers, the Tomb Raider franchise, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. This acquisition could very well be a play to help put more PlayStation Studios games on Pc, but that remains to be seen.
