Nintendo Returning To Gamescom This August

Bethesda, EA, Konami and WB are also on board…but Nintendo's the biggie.

Gamescom 2012 wasn’t quite the show it used to be last year, particularly because Nintendo opted not to attend the yearly Cologne, Germany gaming event, preferring instead to host its own “sampling events”.  But this time around, the company is having second thoughts.

The Gamescom crew announced this morning that Nintendo is officially back on for the 2013 edition of the show, joining up with such third party publishers as Bethesda, EA, Konami, WB Games, Wargaming and Deep Silver.

Tim Endres, gamescom Project Manager: “The next chapter of gamescom is being written and once again promises the best in entertainment. Nintendo’s return is an absolute highlight for our community, exhibitors and trade visitors from around the world. We are also in very promising talks with other key players in the industry with regard to gamescom 2013.”

“The participation of Nintendo clearly demonstrates that the industry remains wholly behind gamescom. We are looking forward to a strong gamescom in 2013”, said Dr. Maximilian Schenk, Managing Director of the BIU – the German Trade Association of Interactive Entertainment Software.

No word yet if Microsoft, who also skipped last year’s show, is considering rejoining, but, hey, why not?

Gamescom 2013 will take place August 21-25.
