Nintendo aired its latest Nintendo Direct online special this morning, and while it didn’t quite reveal any breaking announcements, there was some good news to be heard.

Recommended Videos

First, on the 3DS front, Fire Emblem: Awakening for Nintendo 3DS has a release date, and it’s coming February 4th in the United States.  Other games that are also confirmed for a Q2 2013 release include Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, something fans will certainly appreciate.

Some new titles were also revealed, including a new Brain Age game that will once again challenge your best thinking abilities, as well as a very strange game called Tokyo Crash Mob, where you play a variation of Zuma, but using people instead of spheres.  No, we’re not making this up.

On the Wii U front, new footage of Lego City Undercover was shown, along with Pikmin 3 and Wii Fit U, both of which seem to be coming along rather smoothly.  Some live-action stuff is also coming to the system in 2013, allowing you to look through a virtual world using the GamePad as your camera.

Finally, some new downloadable levels will be coming to New Super Mario Bros. 2 for Nintendo 3DS, some of which will be available today, as we reported in a previous story.

Oh, and Satoru Iwata looked magnificent in a virtual camera helmet.  I suddenly want one!
