The Prince of Persia games were iconic and even spawned movie goodness (though critics weren’t totally sold on it). Because of that long-beloved history with gamers, it’s understandable that many fans would be hoping for a revival of the series. Apparently, even the creator isn’t ready to give it up and recently mentioned he was open to a new Prince of Persia game.
Speaking at a conference, GameLab, in Barcelona, Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner mentioned that he would absolutely be open to making a new game following telling an audience member “I would love to replay those old games” when talking about a potential remaster.
The Prince of Persia series has been very quiet but both the creator and Ubisoft have mentioned interest in a revival. With the first game’s introduction back in 1989 and a continuation across generations since then, it’s hard not to imagine what a new tale could look like with this generation’s graphics!

Is that an official confirmation? Well, no, but it does feel good to know that we’re not alone and given that this seems to be the age of remasters, maybe the Prince of Persia’s future is brighter than we thought? Just no more Sands of Time movie attempts, sometimes it’s worth just leaving well enough alone.
It is also important to note that this isn’t the first time that he’s brought up a possible new game. Back in 2018, he responded to a Chrissy Teigen tweet when she asked “is Prince of Persia still around? I loved that game!” Mechner replied, “Chrissy, I know a few other people who feel the same way, we’re doing our best to make it happen!”
There’s interest on both sides so let’s make like Picard and “make it so!”
