A couple of months ago, SNK reassured loyalists who purchased its Neo Geo X Gold System that the system would continue to be supported with new SD card game releases, so that players could enjoy more of its vast classic library without having to deal with a console with VHS cartridge-shaped games. Today, the company has kept its word.
The publisher of the system, Tommo, has announced that 15 new games will be made available for the system, starting with Neo Geo X Classics: Volume 1, which will include three classics – Metal Slug, Sengoku and Top Hunter – and be released in late April. In addition, a new “Rocket” data transfer/charging cable will be introduced, and four more volumes of games will follow.
These games include Art of Fighting 3, Blazing Star, Breakers Revenge, Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves, Kizuna Encounter, The King of Fighters ’96, The Last Blade 2, Samurai Shodown 3, Savage Reign, Shock Troopers, Super Sidekicks 3: The Next Glory and World Heroes Jet. Though the other volumes don’t have release dates as of yet, they should be arriving sometime this year.
That’s great news, SNK. But we could really use a volume that includes Cyber-Lip and Eightman. Just saying…
