Survivor horror action is about to get a kick in the pants with The Evil Within, Bethesda’s latest project, which is a collaboration with Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and his team at Tango Dreamworks. Today, to get gamers even more prepared for it, the company released a new 12-minute gameplay trailer that was initially shown at E3 earlier this year.
In the video, which you can see below, we’re introduced to Detective Castellanos, who’s called in to investigate a mysterious happening at a nearby hospital. It isn’t too long before he ends up waist deep in trouble, hanging upside down in a room full of mutilated cadavers, with a lumbering maniac nearby.
The footage picks up from there, with plenty of shooting action and tense moments, including a harrowing chase down a hallway, where the detective attempts to escape the maniac, chainsaw in hand.
Warning: the footage is rather bloody, and a bit scary, so make sure you’re in a good spot before you watch it. It’s really good stuff.
The Evil Within releases in 2014 for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
