EA Sports has twice attempted to resurrect its NBA franchise, once in 2010 and another time in 2012, only to shelve them at the last minute. But 2013 looks like the year EA will be taking it to the hoop with authority.

During a quarterly earnings call yesterday, Frank Gibeau of EA Sports confirmed that the NBA Live franchise will be making a return this Fall. The next-gen game will utilize a “brand new sports engine” that EA expects to reveal next month, most likely during its pre-E3 press conference.
