MyTeam Mode Returns in NBA 2K14

It's time to bring back the digital trading cards.

In just a matter of days, 2K Sports will once again return to the basketball court with NBA 2K14, the latest in its successful series. Today, the company released a new developer video talking about the return of one of its most prominent features – MyTeam.

This game works in a similar manner to the Ultimate Team features in EA Sports titles, where you put together your dream team of basketball players by collecting packs of digital trading cards, either through unlocking goals in the game or with purchase.

With MyTeam, players will be able to compete in tournaments using different tiers of cards – bronze, silver, gold and the just-added sapphire. You’ll also be able to customize your team however you see fit, including name, location and logo.

MyTeam will also include a huge emphasis on online interaction, not only letting you compete with friends in head-to-head match-ups, but also offering online leaderboard support.

This feature will be included in all versions of the game, though 2K Sports didn’t clarify if they would be cross compatible between current and next-gen systems. We’ll find out soon enough. You can watch the developer diary below.

NBA 2K14 releases on October 1st for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, November 15th for PlayStation 4 and November 22nd for Xbox One.
