Mortal Kombat X adds Kung Lao and Kitana

The latest gameplay trailer for MKX shows off new and old fighters with a bit of Goro to boot!

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. have released a new gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat X. Unlike the previous trailers for the game, this one doesn’t focus on a single character. Instead, Kung Lao and Kitana get plenty of screen time, alongside a montage of combos, fatalities and X-Ray moves from the previously announced characters.

While the additional gameplay is exciting, it means that we don’t get a detailed breakdown of Kung Lao and Kitana’s fighting variants. We broke down what we know of Kung Lao last week, but we know even less about Kitana. She clearly retains her trademark fans and she can be seen using her Fan Lift and Fan Toss special moves. She was one of the most juggle-friendly characters in Mortal Kombat 9, and it seems as though that continues with MKX.

One thing is for certain, the characters that died during the story mode of MK9 are clearly coming back in full force for Mortal Kombat X. Both Kung Lao and Kitana died in MK9, yet bother are alive and well in the latest gameplay trailer for MKX.

Mortal Kombat X will release on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on April 14. Stay tuned to Prima Games for continuing coverage of NetherRealm’s latest!
