Mortal Kombat: Legacy helped turn a corner for video game-to-video productions, as director Kevin Tancharoen and his team put together a fantastic web series featuring various characters from the series in over-the-top action. Well, good news, folks, it’s making a return.
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season Two is officially in production, and set to kick off in Q2 2013. Kevin Tancharoen is once again returning as director and writer of the series, which will probably focus on the actual tournament this time around. Several new cast members have been added, including Casper Van Dien, who replaces Matt Mullins as Johnny Cage; Harry Slum Jr. as new character Kuai Liang, and Brian Tee as Liu Kang.
But perhaps the most notable addition is Cary Tagawa as Shang Tsung. If you might recall, he originally played the character in Paul Anderson’s 1995 film of the same name. It’s great to see him back in action.
A first clip of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season 2 will debut on February 17th during the Streamy Awards, which you can learn more about at this link.
It’s good to see the Kombat back in action. Now if only we could get confirmation of Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade. Mmmm…
