As great as the MLB: The Show series is for PlayStation 3, there are times when it can be a little hard to get into, especially when it comes to batting. It seems kind of unfair to get a real power hitter up at the plate, only to foul it off to first or create an easy pop-fly instead of getting a home run opportunity. The controls are good, but with the dual analog stick set-up, it takes getting used to.
It appears Sony is listening, though. IGN has reported that Sony Santa Monica is implementing a new Beginner Mode into MLB 13: The Show, which is coming for both PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. In this mode, you’ll be walked through the control basics, then be given the chance to test out the controls until you become comfortable with them. That means the pitcher will throw easy fastballs at first for you to connect with, then more tricky pitches as you gain experience.
We haven’t had a chance to go hands-on with it just yet, but we’ll get a chance to take MLB 13 through its paces soon enough, as it’s lined up to hit the mound just over a month before opening day.
MLB 13: The Show will release for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita this March. We’ll have a preview soon!
