Just in time for the holidays, Microsoft is giving you a reason to sing. And thankfully, not Christmas carols.
The company has announced that Xbox Live subscribers will soon have access to a Karaoke music channel, one that’s a pay-per-hour service that will stream songs through the system for you to sing along with. Though a rate wasn’t given, you can use Microsoft points to purchase a plan that spans 2, 6 or 24 hours, in case you feel like singing all night. BECAUSE WHO DOESN’T.
The Karaoke Channel will have access to over 8,000 songs, though particular favorites were not yet named. The songs will be streamed instead of downloaded, leaving precious room on your hard drive for other stuff, and you’ll be able to read lyrics as they scroll across the screen while your digital Avatar tries to sing along.
Though a release date hasn’t been revealed yet, Microsoft is prepping the channel to launch in time for the holidays. I call dibs on “Ain’t That a Kick In the Head” if it’s available.
