For the longest time, Sega Genesis fans were probably wondering…why didn’t Capcom release Mega Man: The Wily Wars for the U.S. market? It would’ve been an ideal fit, having players check out Mega Man 1, 2 and 3 in 16-bit form. We’ve played the import, and it’s awesome. Sadly, it didn’t even get any sort of re-release on the digital front either – it would’ve been perfect for the Wii’s Virtual Console service.
But don’t fret, because it looks like the game is finally getting a U.S. release…kind of. At Games has announced that it will be shipping its latest handheld gaming unit, the Ultimate Portal Game Player, just in time for the holidays. This six-button handheld includes a number of Genesis games, including Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2, all three Streets of Rage games, two Street Fighter II games and, yep, Mega Man: The Wily Wars.
You can pre-order the handheld here. While its quality may be questionable compared to, say, the Sega Nomad that came out years ago, its price point and game selection make it a real value to certain players out there. Look for it to release November 13th.
