In an announcement today from Bloober Team, it was revealed that The Medium has been delayed. Previously, the game was scheduled to release on December 10 of this year. Now, the game has been given a new release date of January 28, 2021.
The Medium Delayed to January 2021
It doesn’t come as much of a surprise to hear that The Medium has been delayed given the fact that it was previously scheduled to release on the same day as Cyberpunk 2077. The dueling release dates between Cyberpunk 2077 and The Medium isn’t the sole reason for the delay, though.
Bloober Team also mentions the COVID-19 situation in Poland. For those who weren’t aware, Bloober Team is based out of Kraków, Poland, the same setting as The Medium. You can see landmarks from Kraków in trailers for The Medium, notably Saint Mary’s Basilica.

At the moment, Europe is experiencing a spike in COVID-19 cases, with a recent spike of over 20,000 new cases. Given the severity of the situation, many people are working from home as opposed to an in-person office environment.
This could potentially slow game development for games like The Medium. Although, again, COVID-19 isn’t the only reason why The Medium is being delayed as the game’s previous release date conflicted with the new release date for the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077.
If all goes well, we should get The Medium on January 28, 2021. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed as we’re genuinely looking forward to playing this game once it comes out. Until then, we hope the staff at Bloober Team are staying safe during the world’s renewed struggle with COVID-19, and we hope the game is successful on its new release date given that it doesn’t have to compete with any other major releases.
