Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Could Be Coming Sooner Than We Thought

Insomniac Games made a huge splash on the PS4 with Marvel's Spider-Man, now it looks like a sequel could be even closer than we originally thought.

Marvel’s Spider-Man was the latest hit to come from Insomniac Games and with Sony’s announcement earlier this year that they’ve acquired the studio, fans have been going wild over the good news. While the studio has previously flirted with Xbox exclusives, namely that of Sunset Overdrive, their real strengths seem to have been their PlayStation properties, including their Spider-man PS4 game that quickly set records for highest-grossing Marvel title. Now it looks like the sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, may be sooner than we all anticipated.

In a recent episode of the Kinda Funny Gamecast, former Game Informer Senior Editor Imran Khan mentioned that the sequel is anticipated to release around “Christmas 2021.”  He added, ” I know too much about this, so I can’t speculate too much. I think a Spider-Man 2 will come sooner than we think.”

When the first Marvel’s Spider-Man released on the PlayStation 4, it quickly surpasses that of God of War in terms of sales. The single-player Marvel take was a huge hit with several successful DLC added on later, making it an experience that kept on giving back to players.

It’s because of that that there’s no wonder as to why so many would be itching for a sequel. Though we knew a second game was in the works – especially after That Ending – it is exciting to learn that we could be getting our hands on it as early as 2021. If Khan is correct, it could even be sooner than we think.

For now, players can enjoy Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4 exclusively while we await further confirmation from Insomniac Games and Sony.
