Today at the PlayStation Experience opening showcase Shawn Layden, chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios, officially confirmed that Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite (Marvel vs. Capcom 4) is coming to the PlayStation 4 in 2017. In addition, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is available to download right now via PSN on the PS4. Both titles have been heavily rumored throughout the past week, with confirmation finally coming this morning.
The trailer for MvC: Infinite started off with the Blue Bomber himself, Mega Man, a character who was in high demand for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and finally gets back into the limelight with Infinite. Details are still scarce on MvC Infinite, but we know Mega Man will be joined by Ryu, Iron Man and Captain Marvel at the very least. A mysterious figure was also on showcase at the end of the trailer, but it’s unconfirmed if this is a playable character or simply an unplayable boss character.
While the trailer was a CG cutscene, the first gameplay showcase will take place tonight following the Capcom Cup 2016 Street Fighter 5 finals. The event begins at 6:00 PM PT, broadcast on the Capcom Fighters Twitch channel. For those not interested in watching the best Street Fighter 5 players of all time duke it out, the closing ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00 PM PT. We’d recommended tuning in a little early to make sure you don’t miss any of the Marvel action.
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is scheduled to release on the PlayStation 4 sometime in 2017, but Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is available to download right now for the PS4. MVC fans are sure to be pleased with the updated release, but Infinite was the real highlight of the show. We’ll have more details on Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite later tonight, so stay tuned to Prima Games!
