Netflix has their The Witcher series coming later this year and now it looks like they’re going even deeper in gaming, tabletop, and fantasy with a new anime series based off the Magic: The Gathering universe. Even better? Joe and Anthony Russo are leading the charge!

A fan-driven podcast also found the US copyright catalog for two seasons of the show by Netflix, Wizards of the Coast, and Hasbro, seen below:
There’s a handful of articles about it already, as well as a registration in the public US copyright catalog for two seasons, issued by Netflix, WOTC and Hasbrohttps://t.co/SAFwBMbj7Vhttps://t.co/t6sQjagSXK

“We have been huge fans and players of Magic: The Gathering for as long as it has been around, so being able to help bring these stories to life through animation is a true passion project for us,” the Russo brothers said in a public statement following the reveal.
Given the massive amount of success they’ve had on the big screen, seeing their take on the MtG universe is exciting! I’m also a bit relieved that they are going the anime route instead of live-action, an easy way to retain the magic without erring on the side of “too corny.”
