The studio has bought the movie rights to Wizards of the Coast’s immensely popular fantasy card game, and is already hard at work on making the franchise a reality. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the studio wants Magic: The Gathering to be “a massive franchise on the scale of Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings.”

Wizards of the Coast president Greg Leeds and Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis are on board as executive producers, and Simon Kinberg, the writer and producer of several of Fox’s X-Men films, will also oversee the series.

There’s no word on a release date or casting, but more details should pop up in the months ahead.
