Story Mission: A Piece Tougher

So you’ve easily taken apart the Rook Nest camp and managed to achieve Legend rank (Day Lizard). Now it’s time to make things interesting and head back to Gutgash’s stronghold. Go ahead and walk upstairs, then work your way around the corner. After getting past a cut scene, you’ll move to the other side of the hallway and take a left to more stairs. Pick up the History relic, which you’ll find in the northeast corner, and don’t forget to snag the scrap waiting right by the bridge. From there, have a word with Gutgash, and you’ll be able to start the mission, which consists of three general goals: leave Gulgash’s hideout, locate Dim Rim’s convoy group and then tear apart his truck.

Work your way back to the ground floor and leave. From there, a green marker will pop up, giving you a pinpoint idea of where Dim Rim’s convoy is located. When dealing with a convoy, you can choose to avoid secondary vehicles if you want, but it’s best to bump them off the road so you don’t have to deal with them later.

You may be tempted to use your shotgun to blast them off the road, but hang onto your shells. The Magnus Opus can easily get damaged going up against a full-on road crew. If that’s the case, Chum will have to fix it, and you’ll need to deal with enemies on foot. It’s best to save the shells for these guys, and fight off the others before the repair is complete.

After dismantling the convoy truck, pick up the hood ornament located in the wreckage (it’ll be highlighted). That’ll do it for the mission, making Jeet’s camp your next stop. Make sure you take apart one of the enemy camps in the Blackmaws area (Jeet’s territory) first, just so you can open it up. If you need help, read our Camp Dismantling Guide. Have a word with Jeet and the next mission will kick off.

Story Mission: Black Magic

First up, chat with Chum, then head into the garage and put the Thunderpoon on the car. You’ll have a chance to leave Jeet’s domain and test it out on a nearby practice field, just so you have an idea of how it works. From there, make your way to Dead Barrens Pass, where you’ll have to deal with some bothersome Thunderstick launchers.

The Thunderpoon will have no trouble making quick work of the gate (two shots ought to do it). From there, keep an eye out for two cars attempting to ambush you, using either rams or shotgun blasts to bring them down. You’ll come across three Thunderstick launchers attempting to make your life miserable. They’re no bother, though. Well-timed harpoon blasts will easily bring them down from their foundations.

From there, keep an eye open for snipers around the entrance. Two more vehicles will attempt an ambush. Destroy them quickly, then head back to the entrance. This will allow you to gain a vantage point on the snipers so you can pick them off without being hit by their bullets.

Take out any other enemies with the regular harpoon, then use the Thunderpoon to destroy the two hinges located on the Jaw. From there, the regular harpoon can easily finish it off, ending the mission.

All you’ll need to do then is make your way to Pink Eye’s Silo (up north), using various vantage points to give you an idea of what defenses are around. Once you get close enough to the Silo, you’re ready for Smoke Rises.

Story Mission: Smoke Rises

Expect a lot of opposition around the Silo, namely in the form of vehicles. Use harpoon blasts or the shotgun to tear off their wheels, then pursue a trio of catapults. There are several baddies located with each one, using Thundersticks right next to them. They can be killed a number of ways, either by your own Thundersticks, fist-fights, shotgun blasts or our personal favorite, running them down with the Magnum Opus. After finishing them off, the harpoon will make quick work of the catapult’s back side, exposing some gas barrels. Destroy it with a Thunderpoon shot, shotgun blast or Thunderstick and it’s history. Repeat this process for all of them.

The green marker shows your next location – a way into the Silo. Get out of the Opus and make your way down a level, moving into a room that will hold some precious shotgun shells. There will be a valve nearby that will turn off the gas causing flames to block you from going any further, so make sure you shut that off. Go back and head south through another hallway, then hang right. Another valve will appear, so make sure that’s shut off as well. Return to the main room from there and move on.

Some thugs will be awaiting your arrival, so finish them off and keep moving. Don’t forget to snag the scrap located on each side of the room, including over by the stairs. Move upstairs, then hang a right.

Once there, climb up a ladder and snag a Thunderstick, located on a rack over to the left. Throw it at a nearby enemy (to avoid alerting others), then go up another nearby staircase. You’ll find additional scrap. Head back to the Thunderstick rack and use one to hit a wench over on the other side. By doing this, a bridge will drop down and you can continue onward.

Some enemies will charge at this point. You could fist-fight them, but it’s best to destroy them with Thundersticks from a distance. Cross the bridge, then snag some scrap on the left hand side and move up the nearby ladder. Climb another ladder that will be to your left, then find a nearby one going down and take it.

Pick up the scrap located on the platform beneath, then work your way back up to another ladder, which will take you to a nearby water source. Fill up (and drink a bit if you’re running low on health), then make your way around a nearby corner, finding a doorway on your left hand side. A green marker will appear at this point. Follow it, get through the cut scene and finish off the remaining enemies with your fists or shotgun. The mission will conclude at this point.

From there, you’ll need to pay a visit to Gastown, which is a bit ways up north from where you are. There are options available, however, like taking on additional Wasteland missions provided by Pink Eye. To find him, go upstairs and hang a left to find extra stairs. Climb those and he’ll be waiting. On your way out, however, make sure you go up the additional flight of stairs (over on the left) and snag the final History Relic.
