With Teamfight Tactics all the rage earlier this year, it may come as no surprise that League of Legends is ascending to new heights in 2019. That’s right: this year is the League of Legends 10 Year Anniversary celebration, with the festivities kicking off on October 15 with a whole load of community-facing events that look back on the history of the MOBA and its legacy so far. It’s not only the past that Riot Games is celebrating this year; let’s take a look at what’s being planned for the next decade. Onwards and upwards!

It’s hard to believe that League of Legends has been kicking around for a decade at this rate. We’ve seen so many things leave their mark on the game and its players: jungle and map changes, Twisted Treeline, franchising, Worlds, and now Teamfight Tactics. For those who remain uncertain of League’s prowess, here’s a fun statistic: it’s the most played PC game in the world, with 8 million concurrent players on a daily basis according to a Riot press release

October 15 is when everyone’s penciled in at this stage for the League of Legends 10 Year anniversary party. Things are going to kick off with some livestreams and special events, including a 10 Year Anniversary edition of Riot Pls, a lil chat where the community can hear more about the latest drivers behind changes to the game and what’s hot right now. Everyone’s also going to be able to revisit some of the most iconic moments in the game and to get a teaser of what’s coming next for League of Legends Teamfight Tactics. For those who won’t be around to enjoy the proceedings live, you don’t have to fret! Riot will be rebroadcasting the festivities the next day so no one misses out.

On top of looking back on what League of Legends has achieved over the years, there’s also some hot new re-branding going on. That’s right, there’s gonna be a whole new logo (proudly shown off as our banner image for this post). Whether it’s the success of TFT, URF, or any one of the many successful champion reveals and content additions over the years, there’s plenty for Riot Games to celebrate here on the 10 Year Anniversary of its golden child and the player statistics are only further proof of that. Being the top-performing PC game is definitely no easy feat, considering that it outperforms the top 10 games on Steam combined. For those who may have had doubts about whether or not League of Legends was here to stay, we here at Prima like to think that the answer is obvious: the king is sitting real comfy on this throne.

We’re looking forward to the latest preseason changes and to see where TFT takes us, not to mention how hype we already are for the latest set of Star Guardian skins that are gonna be making an appearance.
