The Knights of the Old Republic Remake has been having some trouble behind the scenes with multiple delays and changes to its development studio. Fans have been airing their concerns over social media about whether or not the remake would be canceled. These concerns reached a boiling point after PlayStation removed the trailer for the remake.
The removal of the trailer caused more concerns over the weekend, making fans speculate that the game was starting to suffer the same fate as previous games like Star Wars 3131 in being quietly canceled. However, Sony recently stated that there is a reason behind the removal which might be more mundane than just a quiet cancelation of the game.
Sony has issued a statement in response to the removal of social media posts related to Knights of the Old Republic remake. The Sony representative spoke to Verge journalist Stephen Totilo about the reason behind the delisting of the trailers, stating, “As part of normal business, we delist assets with licensed music when the licenses expire.”
Of course, while this is an explanation behind why the trailer is down, it still raises several questions about the current state of the game and its developer, Aspyr, whose parent company (Embracer Group) is facing a heavy restructuring after a slew of unfortunate business issues. It still isn’t clear where the fabled remake is in terms of its development. However, this still is a sign that the project might still be alive.
The Knights of the Old Republic Remake is set to be released on PlayStation 5.
