Double Helix, the developer behind Microsoft’s upcoming reboot of Killer Instinct, is dead serious when it comes to recapturing that classic vibe.
During a Twitch livestream, the developer revealed that it will bring back several retro-based aspects to the game. Chris Sutherland, the man who handled announcing for both Killer Instinct and its respective sequel, will return for the new game. He’ll have plenty of classic lines in tow – like “Killer combo!” and “C-C-C-Combo breaker!”, along with new dialogue.
In addition, several retro costumes will be included, probably as part of the $39.99 Ultra Edition. The original soundtracks could play a huge role as well. “For most of you who really love (Killer Instinct) 1 and 2, the music of (Killer Instinct) 1 and 2, we’ve got you covered,” said creative director Adam Isgreen.
This information follows the news that the Ultra Edition will include the original Killer Instinct arcade game, though Double Helix didn’t confirm if that version will have online play.
Killer Instinct releases this fall for Xbox One.
