Killer Instinct Receives Two Priced Bundles

Try before you buy, or go all in and score plenty of bonuses.

Killer Instinct has easily become one of the most anticipated games in the Xbox One line-up, with its combination of striking visuals and the classic combo-building gameplay we’ve come to expect. Today, Microsoft detailed ways you can buy the game, depending what you’re in the mood for.

This downloadable title will be sold in two packages. The first is the Combo Breaker bundle, which will go for $19.99. It will feature six launch characters, two additional characters set to release before March 2014, all the stages for these characters, and a training mode. If you prefer something a little deeper, you can buy the Ultra Combo package, which goes for $39.99. It includes everything you get in the Combo Breaker bundle, plus character accessory packs (DLC costumes), and an emulated version of the original Killer Instinct arcade game. More content is planned for 2014, including more eight additional characters, more stages, and possibly online play for the emulated Killer Instict arcade bonus.

If you prefer, you can still try before you buy and purchase characters for $5 a pop, and even get either package for a discounted rate if you buy a couple characters, then decide you want everything. The goal is to make sure you don’t spend more than $20 on the base game, even if you’ve already bought a couple characters. However, these package deals sound like real winners – especially that Ultra Combo. Nothing beats old-school Killer Instinct.

Killer Instinct releases later this year for Xbox One.
