The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Kevin Hart is set to star in the Borderlands movie as Roland. Hart will now join Cate Blanchett as Lillith in the movie directed by Eli Roth.
Kevin Hart Set to Star As Roland In Borderlands Movie
Kevin Hart is no stranger to video game themed movies. He has starred in both of the recent Jumanji movies.
For those unfamiliar with Roland. He is one of the original player characters in the original borderlands game. Originally from the planet Promethea, Roland was a former soldier of the Crimson Lance, which is the weapons company Atlas’ private military.
Here is an excerpt from the Hollywood Reporter article talking about why Kevin Hart was a great casting choice for the film.
“Nathan Kahane, President of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group: “Kevin has been behind some of the world’s biggest blockbusters, and our source material is inspired by one of the world’s best-selling video games. We love the way our filmmaking team has adapted this story and we couldn’t be in better creative hands.”
The Film’s script is penned by Emmy-winning Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin. There is no current release date for the film.
