Ratchet and Clank sure are getting a lot of attention these days, aren’t they? Along with being the focus of a new HD Collection of their original games (due in stores on August 28th), Insomniac Games, the creator of the franchise, are also hard at work on a new entry to the series, Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault.

Today, the PlayStation Blog page revealed fresh new details about the game, one that will let you choose between Ratchet, Clank and the hapless Captain Qwark as you fight your way across five levels through three different planets, battling evil of all sorts.

But there’s an interesting twist here. Along with the classic third-person action we’ve come to expect from the series, Insomniac will add an all new tower defense element to the game, in which you build and defend bases from invading enemies. While this may off more traditional players, Insomniac insists that this will not be the sole gameplay element of the game – there will be plenty of action for all.

Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault will explode onto PlayStation Network later this year.
