The first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta weekend is currently in full swing with PlayStation 4 players now having the ability to try out the newest entry in the legendary first-person shooter franchise. One of the most important topics that is currently being discussed amongst the community regarding the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta is the lack of a mini-map. A staple feature in the franchise, the mini-map is not a default feature for the first time in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This has led to a large amount of criticism from players. Many believe the lack of a mini-map is hurting the overall well-received experience the upcoming game is providing through its first Beta test. This criticism prompted a response from developer Infinity Ward.
My only complaint with COD MW is no mini map. It NEEDS to be in the game.

Infinity Ward explained in a post on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare subreddit that it had heard the community “loud and clear” and will be experimenting with different options regarding having the mini-map as a permanent feature in the game.
“Okay….let’s talk about minimap. We hear you loud and clear. Along with your feedback and the data we’re continuously collecting, we’ll be experimenting internally with a few different options and will keep you updated if we make any changes that you might see during the Beta. This is an ongoing conversation with all of you, so again, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this topic, and we’ll update you again when we have more information to share.”
Players currently can only have a mini-map on their screen in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta when they earn the Personal Radar or UAV killstreaks.
It remains to be seen if Infinity Ward will add a permanent mini-map to the title during the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta. However, players can take satisfaction in the fact that the developer is listening and will be trying out different options.
