IL-2 Sturmovik Sequel In the Works

1C Company has teamed up with a new development team to bring its latest flight simulation to life.

When IL-2 Sturmovik arrived for game consoles a while back, it opened the door to a much more realistic style of flight sim than we’re used to seeing in most games, one that gained a great deal of popularity with action fans and dedicated history buffs alike.  So it shouldn’t be a surprise that 1C Company is moving forward on a sequel.

The company has announced that it has teamed up with California-based 777 Studios to develop the next chapter in the series, which is going under the name IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad.  The game is currently slated for an early 2014 release, and thus far only a PC version has been announced, though console releases are very likely.

“1C is proud to take the next step in flight-simulation history with 777 Studios, a company and team that has grown to be one of the best flight-simulation developers in the world and has proven that their attention to detail and product quality speaks volumes about their talent and dedication,” said Nikolay Baryshnikov, VP of 1C Company. “We look forward to bringing a new era of development and spirit of enjoyment to the combat flight-simulation community together.”

We’ll get a closer look at the game in the months ahead and bring you more details soon!
