Honkai: Star Rail is Bringing New F2P Light Cones, New Systems and More in 2.0 Version

F2P players rejoice!

After the exciting teaser featuring Acheron and the new planet Penacony that we’ve got in The Game Awards, Honkai: Star Rail is announcing more of the new features to be added in its 2.0 version. Some of them include more Light Cones to be bought in the Forgotten Hall and more optimization to the current Relic systems.

The announcements were made in the Developer Radio special blog post, where most sneak peeks for upcoming content are revealed before official announcements on the usual Special Program live stream. For example, the last one previewed the upcoming Pure Fiction mode and we should only get more proper info about this one later this week.

But back to 2.0, the most important change is undoubtedly the new Light Cones added to the Forgotten Hall shop. These LCs are the best choices for unlucky players who don’t own a good Gacha-locked weapon and are relatively easy to Superimpose for better effects, but many of these effects were not useful for many characters.

We still have no info on the upcoming LCs status or effects, but having more diverse options is always welcome. This also will indirectly solve the issue of players that have tons of Lucent Afterglow (the Forgotten Hall currency) but no reason to spend it.

More content was also advised, such as a better optimization of the Relic systems. Starting from 2.0, players can choose to automatically level a Relic to the next stage instead of manually adding materials (going from +12 to +15 in one click, for example), as well as transform 5-stars in Relic Enhancement Materials instead of Fragments, or even discard them if they so wish. The filter will also be optimized to better display what you were searching for in your inventory.

For lore enthusiasts, the Orlay Crossroads system will also make its debut in 2.0, showcasing an exact timeline of when each of the Companion Quests happened in the main story. While some were easy to deduce, figuring out for yourself where to fit that new quest wasn’t exactly the easiest task in the world.

We also got the confirmation that for all upcoming x.0 versions, we’ll be getting new Path materials for leveling future characters. This will start on 2.0, so Acheron wanters will have to hold their horses instead of pre-farming for her. New Crimson Calyxes will be added to accommodate this change and the older materials can be exchanged for the new ones, but the text suggests that it won’t be a 1:1 ratio.

But this is only a small scope of what’s to come in the game’s future. It’ll take a while until we get more concrete info on more upcoming features, but most of what we’ve got was some very high-quality content, so I’m down for waiting a bit.
