Hitman 3: Death Awaits Will Release in January 2021

Hitman 3: Death Awaits has been officially revealed for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Oh, and it's coming in January 2021.

During the PlayStation Future of Gaming event, Sony revealed Hitman 3: Death Awaits, the final game in the World of Assassination trilogy. Further, the third installment will be released sometime in January 2021 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The reveal trailer shows Agent 47 wandering through the woods at night as he is seemingly being hunted. “It was always going to end like this,” begins the trailer. “All your hard work, all your sacrifice, only sped up the process. And now, you find yourself alone, only death awaits.” You can catch the full Hitman 3: Death Awaits trailer in the video below:

After the initial reveal trailer was shown, Hakan Abrak from IO Interactive discussed Hitman 3: Death Awaits, calling it Agent 47’s “most intimate and professions contract in his entire career.” The trailer shows Agent 47 climbing up the side of buildings, sneaking through parties, and of course, assassinating enemies. Further, the game will take place in multiple locations around the world, and will give players plenty of opportunities to kill their enemies in a plethora of different ways.

Hitman 3 seems to have big plans for Agent 47, with the PlayStation Blog sharing, “Agent 47 and the world around him will never be the same again.” While we don’t know much else about the final game in the World of Assassination trilogy, developers are promising more updates in the coming months.

IO Interactive will once again be developing the next installment in the series. The official Hitman 3 website reveals that all locations from Hitaman 1 and 2 can be imported and played in Hitman 3 for free. Further, if you played Hitman 2, progression will be carried over into Hitman 3 at launch.

The Hitman series was revived in 2016 with the release of the sixth installment in the series, and the first in the World of Assasintation trilogy. This was followed by Hitman 2, which was released in 2018 and was the first game in the series after IO Interactive acquired the rights to the franchise from Square Enix.

As we mentioned above, the Hitman 3 reveal was part of the PlayStation 5 Future of Gaming event, where Sony revealed the first public look at the PlayStation 5. The event also revealed Horizons Forbidden West, Spider-Man Miles Morales, and a lot more. You can check out all of the announcements on our homepage.
