Heroes/Villains We’d Like To See In Injustice: Gods Among Us

It's got a pretty good roster so far, but we'd like to see a few more famous faces thrown in for good measure.

When WB Games and Netherrealm Studios first announced Injustice: Gods Among Us earlier this year, we didn’t really have any idea what kind of deep fighting experience we were in for, did we? Featuring interactive elements that can change the course of a match depending how you use them, along with cinematic style super moves, an array of “super” characters and superb visuals, it’s really shaping up to be something spectacular when it debuts next April.

However, the cast so far, while impressive, is a bit limited. There are a number of good and evil characters here, including Batman, Catwoman, Cyborg, the Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Harley Quinn, Joker, Nightwing, Solomon Grundy, Superman and Wonder Woman, making 12 in all. But many more can easily be added, making the roster grow in a number of staggering ways.

So, with that, we’ve laid out a few suggestions for characters to be added. You may agree with these – or be left wondering why your particular favorite wasn’t mentioned – but they’re definitely prime picks for Ed Boon and company to play around with. And, hey, there’s always room in the comments below in case you feel like your favorite was left out. Here we go!

Zatanna

Though she might look like nothing more than your typical vaudeville performer, this sexy stage magician has plenty up her sleeve. She has a number of magical abilities that can really help in a pinch, along with being able to conjure up items by reciting spells backwards. Can you imagine what would happen if she pulled a giant bunny out of her hat as a super move? That’d be nuts.

Sinestro

Since the likes of Joker and Solomon Grundy are getting their chance to be powerhouses in the game, then certainly there’s room for a little fear, now isn’t there? Sinestro, Green Lantern’s former trainer turned vicious nemesis, harvests yellow energy that could easily send the greatest foe into a panic if used the right way. His intelligence shouldn’t be ignored either – it can definitely be your worst enemy in a fight.

Bane

Speaking of bad guys who would be right at home within Injustice’s fighting universe, what about Bane? Ever since he did some major damage this summer in The Dark Knight Rises (breaking Batman’s back and all), he’s been wreaking havoc, and pitting him in a battle against the likes of Superman or Solomon Grundy would certainly be something for the ages. He can even bulk up for his super attack and crush his enemy flat, should he choose.

Mr. Freeze

Remember Sub-Zero from the Mortal Kombat series? Of course, who doesn’t? Well, imagine Mr. Freeze working to a similar effect in Injustice: Gods Among Us, using a freeze gun to stop his enemies cold (mind the pun) or create a slippery floor to throw them off. He can also use ice bombs and, for his super, have an army of snowmen trudge over his icicle-laden opponent. And no, he doesn’t need to use quips like “You aren’t sending me to the cooler!”

Jonah Hex

It’s been a while since Jonah Hex has gotten any sort of respect outside of the comic world – and we aren’t willing to bring up what happened with the previously released movie. So why not put him in Injustice, with him running in, guns blazing and occasionally using his spiritual powers to put enemies in their place? And for his super, he could easily bring in a gatling gun and pop some lead into whoever’s in his sights…

Ra’s al Ghul

One person suggested that we include Lex Luthor on this list, mainly because he was such an effective fighter (if you can say that) in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe a while back. But that robotic suit just made him look somewhat dorky. So why not instead give the more powerful Ra’s al Ghul a shot? He can use Scarecrow’s mist to force his opponent to hallucinate, then use his custom sword (and fellow brotherhood buddies) to strike hard and deep?

Deathstroke

One of the deadliest villains to don a mask and dish out his own version of justice, Deathstroke is quite the effective killer, able to manipulate people with his superior brain power while doing all sorts of damage with his unmatched speed and strength. Give him a blade, some guns and a few bombs, and he can easily put someone like Superman or Batman on the ground – even at their fullest strength.

Bizarro

Finally, let’s throw a wild card out there, a character that can really do as much damage as Superman, even if he doesn’t entirely look as good doing so. Bizarro is every bit Superman’s equal when it comes to strength, and he barely has any sort of weaknesses to take advantage of. Putting him in a power match with some of the bigger enemies in the game would be a dream – even if the after-effects would be along the lines of a nightmare.

Injustice: Gods Among Us hits stores April 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U.
