There’s no question that Grand Theft Auto 5 has no problem setting sales records, as it’s already sold a billion dollars’ worth of games in its first month alone. Did you know, though, that it’s also setting the pace for several Guinness World Records?

The Guinness crew reported that Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated sequel has set some noteworthy records in terms of numbers – and we don’t just mean sales.

GTA 5 sold approximately 11.21 million units in its first 24 hours of release, with revenue of just over $815 million. As a result, it’s set these six records…

“GTA totally deserves to be recognized as an icon of modern British culture, and we’re thrilled to be able to feature the game in the record books,” said Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief, Craig Glenday. “Gaming is no longer a niche hobby, as GTA 5 has proved, and how exciting that it’s taken on the might of Hollywood and won! I’m also doubly proud as a Dundonian to welcome this home-grown series back into the Guinness World Records book.”

2K Games stated it didn’t confirm these numbers with Guinness, though the company indicated it worked with Rockstar Games to get them.

Congrats to Grand Theft Auto 5 regardless. It truly is a big thing.
