A brand new Maximus Cup event was recently announced for Tetris 99, and with a new Maximus Cup comes a brand new collectible theme. This time around, the theme is based off Kirby Fighters 2, and it’s absolutely adorable.
Grab a Free Kirby Fighters 2 Theme During This Weekend’s Tetris 99 Maximus Cup
A Maximus Cup event goes live in Tetris 99 this weekend starting on Friday at 11:00 p.m. (PT) and running until Tuesday at 10:59 p.m. (PT).
While the event is active, Tetris 99 players will be able to earn points by playing matches. As soon as 100 points are earned, the Kirby Fighters 2 theme will be unlocked and yours to keep forever… for free!
Note that every match yields points regardless of placement so even if you’re new at Tetris 99, you should still be able to unlock the Kirby Fighters 2 theme. For example, if you finish 91 – 99th place, you’ll earn one point for that match.
If you’re able to win, first place gets 100 points, the total number of points needed to unlock the Kirby Fighters 2 theme. Below, we’ve listed the points awarded based on placement during the upcoming Maximus Cup event.

Overall, it’s exciting to see a new Maximus Cup event for Tetris 99 in 2021 as they’ve been occurring regularly ever since the game was released on February 13, 2019.
In the past, we’ve seen themes for Tetris 99 based on other Nintendo properties including Super Mario Bros. 35, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pokemon Sword and Shield, Paper Mario, and more.
As we move forward through 2021 and new Nintendo games are released, we imagine there will be additional themes added to Tetris 99 through Maximus Cup events.
