Game Preview of Second Extinction Coming to Xbox Game Pass

In a lineup of games coming to Xbox Game Pass, a post from Xbox Wire included the news that a game preview for Second Extinction will soon be available.

The usage of the word “game preview” instead of demo is interesting, and leaves us curious as to the amount of content that will be on offer.

In the Xbox Wire post, the news about Second Extinction is as follows

Second Extinction (Game Preview) (Cloud, Console, and PC) ID@Xbox – April 28

Second Extinction tasks you and up to two friends with fighting bloodthirsty mutant dinosaurs in a bid to reclaim Earth. But be warned: These carnivores have an appetite for war. The game takes place on a large-scale map where each region has a unique threat level.

As the community lowers the threat level, the dinosaur menace retreats. Fail to keep the hordes at bay, however, and you’ll face increased threats, more dangerous enemies, and the chance of emergence events that will test your limits.”

In the FAQ page on the Xbox website, information about what a game preview is reads:

What is Xbox Game Preview?

Xbox Game Preview is a way for our fans to preview and purchase work-in-progress digital titles, participate in the development process and help developers make Xbox One games the best they can be.

How does Xbox Game Preview work?

Xbox Game Preview games can be purchased and played like regular titles. Because the games are still in development, they might be missing content, contain bugs, or need extra balancing work that will come later via updates.

Similarly, select Xbox One features like Share may also be unavailable until the final game is released. Once the game is purchased, you are entitled to every update as the game moves to its final commercial release as well as the final version of the game when it is finished.”

With that information, it sounds like the developers may be testing things like multiplayer servers for Second Extinction. Additionally, there may be more content in the final version of the game versus the game preview available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Either way, we’re looking forward to checking out Second Extinction for ourselves, and we’ll be sure to update you on the sort of content available in the game preview once it’s available on April 28.

Until then, what are your thoughts on Xbox Game Pass including a game preview for Second Extinction? Are you planning to check it out? Let us know on our social media channels including Facebook and Twitter
