Free Dead Or Alive 5 Coming to PlayStation 3

Tecmo Koei revealed Core Fighters, a free-to-play version of Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate for PlayStation 3.  Xbox 360 is also a possibility, though the publisher was still talking to Microsoft.

The game will feature four playable characters: Ryu Hayabusa, Hayate, Kasumi and Ayane.  You’ll still be able to fight a similar roster from Dead or Alive 5, as well as experience all the original stages.  You’ll also be able to access the training and tutorial modes to learn the basics.

The rest of the content is paid-for via in-app purchase.  Additional characters will cost $4 a pop, while story mode will cost $15 to unlock. 

One bit of sad news – the game will not be compatible with previously released versions of Dead Or Alive 5 on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Core Fighters is set to release on September 3rd.
